Pine Bluff Energy Center, located in Pine Bluff, Ark., is a state-of-the-art, 215-megawatt power plant. It has one combustion turbine that is routed to a heat recovery steam generator that provides steam to one steam turbine. The plant is also equipped with an auxiliary boiler, which can provide steam when the plant is not producing electricity. The plant sells electricity into several markets in the south and Midwest and provides steam to its host facility, Evergreen Packaging. The Evergreen Packaging paper mill is the largest employer in Pine Bluff and produces approximately 20 percent of the milk and juice carton paper used in the world.
